UFC 304 is shaping up to be a great card and the UK fans will be delighted to see many of its homegrown stars in action at the Co-Op Arena on July 27. The latest addition to the card is ‘Meatball’ Molly McCann, who returns to the octagon for the first time since defeating Diana Belbita via an armbar submission back in February. The fight was McCann’s first at Strawweight and she impressed against the well-rounded Romanian.
Standing in her way is Bruna Brazil, who currently has a 1-2 UFC record following a unanimous decision loss to Loma Lookboonmee back in February, just one week after McCann’s last fight.
UFC 304 Card
Leon Edwards headlines the event as he defends his welterweight title for the third time in an anticipated rematch with Belal Muhammad. Both men are enjoying long unbeaten streaks, with the challenger finally getting a title shot after campaigning for a shot at gold for some time.
The co-main event sees the interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall, face the American Curtis Blaydes in what is also a rematch. The Brit will want to forget their first bout as he endured a horrific injury in the first round of their fight at the O2 Arena in London two years ago, which led to a prolonged spell on the side-lines. A win for Aspinall would guarantee a shot at the undisputed heavyweight title, likely to be against the winner of Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, providing neither man retires.
Elsewhere on the card, Arnold Allen faces Giga Chikadze, Muhammad Mokaev looks to make it 13-0 against Manel Kape, and Paddy Pimblett faces the American, Bobby Green in a fight which will certainly have a great build-up attached to it given that both men are good on the mic.
The addition of UK fan favorite, Molly McCann, will be welcome news to the home fans, who are bracing themselves for a late night in Manchester with the main card not scheduled to take place until 3 am local time. The UFC’s decision to hold a PPV event throughout the night has not pleased fans on the other side of the Atlantic, but the event is expected to sell out nonetheless.
