Speaking on his YouTube channel, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett gave fans a glimpse into his private life and the road to recovery following his injury sustained at UFC 282.
The vlog showed Pimblett taking part in physiotherapy without his protective boot, which he discarded after the session. The injury was worse than first thought and has led to quite a lengthy absence due to Pimblett requiring not one but two leg surgeries as a result of injuries to his ligaments. British fans were hoping to see Pimblett back in action on home soil on July 22 at the O2 Arena in London, but unfortunately, the date has come too soon for the proud Liverpudlian.
Paddy ‘The Baddy’ later revealed in the vlog that he intends to return to the octagon by the end of 2023 to ‘kick some little farts head in.’ He will be hoping that his next performance is better than his last outing, a unanimous decision victory over Jared Gordon at UFC 282, which many viewed as controversial as they felt Gordon had done enough to win the fight.
Pimblett doesn’t accept this take, and having rewatched the fight, he still believes he was the rightful winner. However, he wasn’t happy with his performance and is adamant his next fight will yield a better display, and once he’s back, people will support him again instead of criticizing him. Pimblett’s actual words were, ‘When I’m back, people will be sucking me a** again.’
When Paddy returns to the octagon, it will be around one year since his last fight, but he still remains one of the most talked about fighters in the sport despite being unranked and only having four fights in the UFC. The star power he possesses is clear; His accent, hairstyle, and outspoken nature combined with his cheeky sense of humor have all contributed to his following, not to mention he is on a six-fight win streak and had a big UK following prior to his UFC debut as a result of his success in Cage Warriors, where he previously the Featherweight Champion.
The upcoming London card will be headlined by heavyweight Tom Aspinall, who is coming off a nasty leg injury himself sustained in 2022 that ended his fight against Curtis Blaydes prematurely. Molly Mccann will also feature at the O2 Arena against Julija Stoliarenko, so expect to see her scouse partner in crime, Paddy The Baddy, at the event offering his support.
