July 27 is a date etched into the minds of many MMA fans hailing from the United Kingdom, as the UFC returns for a pay-per-view event packed with British stars. The UFC welterweight Champion, Leon Edwards, defends his title against Belal Muhammad in what is a long-awaited rematch for the challenger as he looks to end the 13-fight win streak of the champion.
A second title is on the line at UFC 304 as the interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall defends his belt against the American Curtis Blaydes. The fight has been criticized by some because the interim title shouldn’t be defended by definition, rather the holder should be fighting for the undisputed title. Unfortunately for Aspinall, that won’t happen as Jon Jones is slated to defend against Stipe Miocic later this year.
Pre-sale tickets were up for grabs from 10 am local time this morning in the UK, and despite the UFC having a reputation for steep ticket prices, the prices for the event at the Co-Op arena have still surprised many. The event is being held at a time to cater for the US audience, therefore Leon Edwards isn’t expected to make the ring walk until around 5 am local time.
Despite the circumstances surrounding the event, the UFC is still charging record amount for tickets in the UK with some fans reporting nosebleed seats going for close to £200.
